Obituary of Walter C. Barber
Walter C. Barber, 82, The Villages, FL, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011. Mr. Barber was born in Morrisville, Pennsylvania. He was a retired wire operator from Merrill Lynch and owned and operated a motel in Vermont for many years. He and his wife, Joyce moved to The Villages in 1996 coming from Escondido, California. Mr. Barber was of the Methodist faith, held the position of Past President of the Rotary Club in Chester, VT, and enjoyed many hobbies such as tennis, golf, softball, playing cards, and woodworking. He proudly served in the US Navy on the Destroyer, USS Roan, during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Barber, The Villages, FL; three daughters, Mary Elizabeth Rawson, Escondido, CA; Carol Ann Labonte, Mount Belvieu, TX; Teresa Marie Kelly, Burke, VA; four sons, Charles Ralph Barber, Waterbury Center, VT; Brian George Barber, Whittier, CA; Kevin Michael Barber, Essex Junction, VT; Robert Andrew Barber, San Francisco, CA; sister, Beatrice Provost, Christiana, PA; nineteen grandchildren, and one great grandson.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 6, 2011, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, The Villages, FL. Inurnment will be in Florida National Cemetery at a later date.
