I can still remember long car trips to see you in Florida when I was little. These were usually accompanied with a trip to Disney World; but somehow I would have just as much fun with you. I will miss your sense of humor and attitude toward life and nature. I love you Grandpa and will never forget you.

In "Its a Wonderful Life" George Bailey races upstairs to Zuzu's bedroom to check on her since she's running a fever- that scene always reminds me of Dad returning home from being gone all week to come to my bedside with some trinket but mostly genuine concern over how I'm feeling because I have the chicken pox. Our Dad will always have a huge influence on our family even though he's no longer here. His devotion to family was his passion, and his caring for his Mother and Father was tireless. He once told me he just hoped people would remember him in the high regard that people felt about his Father. His other passion? Find the humor in any situation. And he did, best he could.
"The love we give and recieve is all that matters and all that is remembered. Suffering disappears; love remains.

From the time I was 10 years old, up until the time when my son was born, one of the first questions Grandpa would always ask is "So why don't you have more boyfriends?". I will definitely miss his sense of humor, and I will never forget the wonderful memories I have. Waking up to the sounds of song birds on the porch and chickens in the backyard when we would visit, watching endless hours of fabulous British comedy shows, and taking rides on the riding lawn mower. Grandpa you were loved ...will never be forgotten...and will be missed.

Some of my favorite memories are from my 1st childhood in Bay Village, Ohio. Dad used to take me to get ice cream after working in the yard. On the way there and back he would whistle and hoot and holler at all the young girls. Only being 12 or so, I knew there was something about girls that was appealing, but was way to shy to want all that attention sent my way. Of course, it was only a year or so later that I discovered the fun of "spin the bottle" and began to understand. ; )
I used to love it when it was cold and snowing. I would sit in front of my open bedroom window and feel that refreshing, cold, dry air, while still being warm and toasty in the house. Dad would almost always catch me, hollering "what the h%#* are you doing, close the d$*% window! when you pay the power bill, you can let all the cold air in!" Having paid a few power bills since then, I get it. I still do it, but I get it.
I will miss you so very much, "DaddyO".

I remember when I was a little girl he was always so full of funny sarcastic lines that I never understood (I was like, 7 grandpa!) But I would always get a kick out of them anyway because of the way he would pause for a response and just look at me with wide eyes and raised eyebrows that seemed to stretch to the ceiling.
