Obituary of John Overboe

THE VILLAGES — John Overboe, 90, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011. Mr. Overboe was born in Stavanger, Norway, and moved to The Villages from Monmouth Beach, N.J., in 2002. He was a retired New York City dock builder for Dock Builders Union 1456; and a member of the Scandinavian Club and Sons of Norway. Survivors include his wife, Signe; daughters, Karen Jacob, Gillette, N.J., Susan Pollack, Chesterfield, N.J.; son, John Haaland, Millstone Township, N.J.; brother, Ole, Minneapolis, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Visitation will be held 5-6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services-The Villages, with funeral services following at 6 p.m. and a reception following services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice for The Villagers, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL 32162. Arrangements are by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services-The Villages.
