I met Shawn when I lived in Tampa Bay Florida in the early 90s, we played drums together at many friends gatherings, shows in Florida, Georgia...camping, boating trips..after I moved from Florida Shawn found me on myspace a couple of years ago and we stayed in touch since. I will miss the lenghthy discussions, the music he shared with us all. We have lost a very special brave friend. His spirit moves in all things. I grew up in the same neighborhood and went to school with Shawn back in Peabody. Sometimes we would hang out in the neighborhood together and go over each others houses once and awhile. I still live in the same neighborhood, as my wife and I bought a house just down the street from where we both grew up. I passed by the house earlier tonight where Shawn, Brian and Susan grew up in and thought of the many memories I have of Shawn. I was and still am very shocked to hear about his passing. I send my deepest condolences.

Oh, Chris.....this meant so much to me, hearing from you. Yes...it's all been pretty shocking. Shawn was diagnosed with lung cancer in March of 2009. Despite a very brave fight, extensive chemo and radiation, I'm afraid he lost the battle. The end came very fast and quick....therefore, it was extremely shocking to all of us. But he's at rest now and for that, I'm grateful. Please give my love to your mother and Bob and again, thank you.

I don't know you, but thank you so much, Karen. Just so you know.....My husband and I have Smokey. We went and got her immediately on Sunday as that was Shawn's only wish....that we would take her and OF course we did! She has fit in beautifully with our Scottish terrier, cockapoo and 3 cats. Smokey and I are joined at the hip....she has not left my side since we brought her to her new home. Again, thank you.

I met Shawn in March 2009 and have called him friend ever since. Shawn always managed to put a smile on my face even on the worst of days, he loved life so very much. I never heard Shawn complain or express regrets, he was always looking forward with determination. After we met, Shawn told me that he felt we had been destined to meet, I know we were; Shawn showed me how to enjoy life again, to be happy with the love that filled my life rather than despair over the pitfalls of life. I never heard Shawn ask for anything beyond friendship, and of that he always gave back so much more than he received. I'll miss you brother, but I take comfort in knowing you have found the peace you so richly deserved my friend. Beat your drum loud my friend, lay down the beat for Jerry to jam on. We miss you brother and will always keep you in our hearts surrounded by much love. Much love to all of Shawn's family, friends, and most importantly, Smokey.

I dressed you up in my clothes, put a wig and bows in your hair and brought you outside to tell the neighborhood kids "This is my sister Tammy." Mom wasn't too happy, but OH Well lol. You gave me comfort during one of the hardest times of my life while struggling in the battle for yours. You never failed to offer comfort and kindness. You made such a difference for me and my husband. I will never forget you Shawn. You made such a difference in our attitudes and outlook. Even when you were so sick you brightened my day with your gentle teasing and your intelligent sense of humor. I know you came into our lives when you did for a reason. Shawn has a huge heart of gold. He's also so humble & so generous. He made me laugh so many times with his wonderful sense of humor. He has a contagious smile that would make my heart glow. I feel so blessed to have loved him & to have been loved by him. I will love him forever & will always cherish the memories of the precious times we spent together. As difficult as it is to accept that he's no longer here physically with us, I take comfort in knowing that he's in a better place & will never have to suffer again.
