Obituary of James E. Pippin

Ocala - Mr. James E. Pippin, 79, passed from this life on Friday, August 26, 2011. He was born in Slocomb, Alabama, and he was raised in Bonifay, Florida, and moved to Ocala, Florida in 1969. Mr. Pippin was a member of Druid Hills United Methodist Church, was on the Board of Trustees and was head usher. He was a charter member of the Marion County YMCA, a life member of Masonic Lodge, Fellowship Lodge Biloxi, MS -32nd degree York Rite, life member of Elks Club, Green Cove Springs, and a 40 year Gator Football booster. Mr. Pippin was retired from the Air Force after 20 years, worked in auto sales, volunteered with Marion County Sheriff's Dept. in Homeland Security, volunteered with Guardian Ad Litem Program and was employed by the Marion County School Board as a substitute teacher. He enjoyed exercise and fitness, and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Faye Pippin; daughters Jennifer Pippin and Pamela (Joe) Dacosta; grandsons Matthew Chase Maskiewicz and James David Maskiewicz; a brother Charles (Jeanne) Pippin; 5 nephews and 3 nieces. He was preceded in death by his father Phero Pippin, mother Mary Peterson, and 3 sisters, Agnes, Syble, and Rebecca. Memorial services for Mr. Pippin will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 3rd, at Druid Hills United Methodist Church with Rev. Darrell Allen officiating. Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, is handling arrangements. At the family's request, memorial contributions in Mr. Pippin's memory may be made to Druid Hills United Methodist Church, 1712 SE Lake Weir Rd., Ocala, FL, 34471
