Obituary of Lloyd W. Lane

Lloyd Lane, 81, of Chiefland, died Monday, August 29, 2011. He was born September 6, 1929, to Dennis and Bernice Lane. He ran a Standard Oil service station from age 18 until 1958. He then owned and operated a Chevron Wholesale Distributorship for 30 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Chiefland. He enjoyed gardening, the outdoors and his beloved companion Gus. He is survived by his wife Evelyn; sons Lloyd Lane Jr. and Keith (Jennie Lynn)Lane, a daughter of love, Teresa (Fred) Wilson, two granddaughters, Leslie Lane and Lacee Lane. Also, two sisters, Janet (John) Verewy, and Dorothy (Donnie) Owen. He is preceded in death by his parents Dennis and Bernice Lane and his brother Alvis Lane. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home in Chiefland. Services will be held Friday, September 2 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Chiefland. Interment will follow at Hardeetown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Lane's memory to Haven Hospice of the Tri-Counties, 311 NE 9th St, Chiefland, FL 32626.
