Obituary of Evelyn Matthews

LADY LAKE — Evelyn Elizabeth Matthews, 82, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2011. Mrs. Matthews was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and moved to Lady Lake from Croydon, Pa., in 1989. She was a retired medical assistant; a Protestant; and her hobbies were movies, playing piano and organ, reading, helping others and shopping. Survivors include her husband, Thomas J.; daughters Evelyn Groom and Eileen Matthews, both of Summerfield; Elizabeth Gaebel, Warrington, Pa., Ellen Cooper, Newtown, Pa.; brother, Robert Besch, Langhorne, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be held at noon Thursday, Sept. 1, at Hiers- Baxley Funeral Services, The Villages, with visitation prior to services that will be held 11 a.m.-noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to In Touch Ministries, P.O. Box 7900, Atlanta, GA 30357. Arrangements are by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services-The Villages.
