Obituary of Elmer Hoffman
Elmer Hoffman, age 80, of Ocala, FL passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2011. He was born in Granite City, IL on April 10, 1931. He was raised in Illinois and left to join the US Marines where he served during the Korean Conflict. After his military service he returned to Illinois until moving to Florida in 1959. Elmer started his own concrete business called E. Hoffman Concrete Finishing which he owned and operated for 45 years. He was a founding member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ocala, FL. He was involved with St. John Lutheran School where he served on the Steering Committee to establish the school. His hobbies included fishing and golfing. Elmer was a lifetime member of the Ocala Elks Lodge where he was Elk of the Year in 1981-1982. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Leona Hoffman of Ocala, FL; daughter Debi (John) Heinold of Ocala, FL; son Michael Hoffman of Ocala, FL; daughter Becki (Randy) Hays of Hawthorne, FL; son Curtis Hoffman of Ocala, FL; brothers Leroy Hoffman and Raymond Hoffman both of Houston, TX; 7 grandchildren Cynde Mays, Christina Hudson, Courtney Waters, Cayce Heinold, Grant Hoffman, Brandon Roberts and Joey Hays; 8 great grandchildren Cody, Jacob and Alex Mays, Karl Barbour, Luke Hudson, Cole Fried, John Michael Shihinski and Georgia Renee Hoffman. A visitation will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 from 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4001 NE 25th Avenue, Ocala, FL on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 11:30am. Interment with military honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Ocala, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in memory of Elmer Hoffman.
