Obituary of Harold Edward Brown
Harold Edward Brown, 89 of Ocala, Fl.
Jesus called Harold from this life on September 21, 2011 from his residence in Ocala. Mr. Brown was the son of John F. Brown and Ada (Marks) Brown of Granite City, Illinois. Mr. Brown served in the Army during W.W. II and later became the Director of Parks and Recreation in Granite City. Harold was inducted into the Amateur Softball Hall of Fame in Illinois and the Granite City Sports Hall of Fame. The Granite City Recreation Center was named after him for his dedication to the city as the Harold E. Brown Recreation Center. Mr. Brown lectured at 5 different Universities in the Illinois area on Sports and Recreation. He moved to Ocala in 1986 and became active as the President and Vice President of the Oak Run Homeowners Association, and the Co-Chairman of the Oak Run Travel Club. Mr. Brown was a member and Deacon of the Christian Life Assembly of God Church of Ocala. Harold is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Shirley Mae (Hornberger) Brown of Ocala; his daughter Sandra Jo MacWilliam and husband James of Spencerport, N.Y.; a Granddaughter Ellen Jean Ault and husband Jason of Tampa, Fl.; and a Great Granddaughter Zoe Elizabeth Ault of Tampa, Fl. Visitation will be Sunday, September 25, 2011 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Hiers-Baxley TimberRidge Chapel. 9695 S.W. 110th St. Ocala. Funeral Service for Mr. Brown will be Monday, September 26, 2011 at 12:30 PM with Pastor Thomas Markham officiating. Inurnment will follow the service at 2:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery Bushnell, Fl. with Full Military Honors provided by Angela Santos VFW Post #4781 of Ocala.
