Obituary of Herbert Tackett

Herbert Royce Tackett, 74 of Ocala, FL, formerly of Denton, KY, died September 24, 2011. Born September 27, 1936 in Globe, KY. He attended the Kentucky School for the Deaf in Danville, KY where he played on the varsity basketball team. Herbert was a member and officer of the Silent Neighbors of Lake County in Mount Dora, FL and the Big Sun Association of the Deaf in Ocala, FL. Herbert was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Faye Tackett; parents Pete and Pansy Tackett of Denton, KY; a daughter Effie Pansy Tackett; and by two siblings Raymond and Ricky Tackett. Herbert is survived by sons Timmy Tackett of Richmond, KY; and Thomas Tackett of Wheelersburg, OH; daughters Aloha Tackett of Richmond, KY; Janet (Richard) Tackett Noel; and by four brothers Clarence (Emma) Tackett of High Point, NC; Shirlie (Mary) Tackett of Mebane, NC; Allen (Virginia) Tackett of Talbot, TN; Jack Tackett of Denton, KY; sisters Janet (Diane) Tackett of Ft Myers, FL; Dottie (Charles) Tackett Ferry of Grayson, KY; and Effie Tackett Owens of Dayton, OH; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nephews and nieces. He is also survived by step-daughters Geneva (Daniel) Jernigan and Vicky Smith of Ocala, FL and step-son Johnny Berry of Orlando, FL. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 15 at the Grayson Free Will Baptist Church in Grayson, KY. Inurnment will be at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Olive Hill, KY.
