Obituary of Joseph H. McGovern

MCGOVERN, Jr, Joseph H. Osteen- Joseph "Joe" H. McGovern, Jr. died September 24, 2011 at Central Florida Regional Hospital. Joe was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 11, 1931 to Joseph Hugh McGovern and Mary Catherine McGovern. Joe was Catholic by faith. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Joe retired as a Licensed Contractor and owner of McGovern Builders. He loved flying which lead him to get his pilot's license. In his free time he enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, and restoring antique cars. Joe was most proud of his family and loved having everyone together. Joe was preceded in death by his wife Patricia, son Joseph, and brother Hugh. He is survived by son Michael McGovern (K.D.) of Fairbanks, AK; son Thomas McGovern (Janis) of Osteen, FL; son James McGovern (Carolyn) of Jacksonville, FL; daughter Patricia Dycus of Deltona, FL; daughter Mary Johnson (Steve) of Osteen, FL; grandsons Chris and Jeff; granddaughters Sara, Megan, Katie, Amy Rose, Beth, and Maggie; great-grandchildren, Angelina, Layne, Lilly, and Greyson; brothers James and William; sisters Mary and Margaret; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial Mass at All Souls Catholic Church in Sanford, FL will be held on Wednesday September 28, 2011 at 10:00 am. Arrangements by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Ocala.
