Obituary of Janet Towe

SUMMERFIELD — Janet R. Towe, 82, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011. Mrs. Towe was born in Saranac Lake, N.Y., and moved to Summerfield from St. Louis, Mo., 25 years ago. She was a homemaker; of the Methodist faith; enjoyed ice skating and was a golf enthusiast. Survivors include her husband, Jerry; sons Paul Merritt, Dallas, Texas, Robert Merritt, Philadelphia, Pa., John Merritt, Washington, D.C.; daughter, Stephanie Rybicki, Washington, D.C.; stepdaughters Cynthia Berrie, Fort Lauderdale, Cathy Towe, Atlanta, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service for Mrs. Towe will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, The Villages. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. at Glen Haven Cemetery, Winter Park.
