Obituary of Stanley Diehl
Stanley Diehl, age 89, of Ocala, Florida, passed peacefully on October 17, 2011. Born in Bel Air, Maryland in 1922 and married to the late Inez Diehl, Stan was a Christ follower, devoted husband and father. He served as a music and Sunday school leader at First Baptist Church of North East, Maryland, was a member of College Road Baptist Church, Ocala, and served with Gideon's International and Campers on Mission. Stan was an avid water sportsman, volunteer Aquatic Director for the YMCA and a diver with Tri-County Dive and Rescue Club. Mr. Diehl served in the Navy during WWII. He was stationed at Ocracoke Island, NC, to protect the coastline from German saboteurs, later becoming trained in submarine warfare as a Soundman 3rd class. He retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground as a materials tester and owned his own business as a master watchmaker.
Stanley is the loving father of Faye Berkemeyer, husband Wayne, of Broad Run, Va., Dianne Phipps, husband Keith of Ocala, Fla., Larry Diehl, of Port Deposit, Md., and the late Sandra Ray of Havre de Grace, Md. He has ten grandchildren, Martha, Erin, Laurie, Michael, Rachael, David, Joe, Deward, John, and Angela and great-grandchildren.
