Just wanted to remind all of you. My sisters and I weren't the only ones that called my Granddad...Boppy. Although I was the originator. All my Aunts & Uncles friends called him Boppy too. lol Back in the day. All the delicious Sunday dinners together. Miss that. He used to put me up on top of the refrigerator and say, "Now what are ya gonna do?" Steak juice in a Dixie Cup followed by milk with our dinner in one at the card table. We'd finish dinner and he'd say, "Well too bad you kids don't like ice cream." ; ^ ) He just really disliked that Mom always let me wear my hair a little longer then everyone else. So his trips to go get some ice cream always incorporated a trip to the barber shop too. lol But I ain't mad at ya for that Boppy, gawd you'd love my head now. ( ;- ) As far as I'm concerned you are the best Granddaddy there ever was. But to me you will always remain "Boppy". I will never forget what you were to me, and how much I will always love and miss you. I thank God that my life was blessed with you for almost 50 years. Love to my Family & Friends...miss all of you SO much!

It was 1965 and I had just enlisted in the Navy and was leaving the state of Wisconsin for the very first time after completing "boot camp" and Hospital Corps School in great Lakes, Illinois. My first duty station was Naval Hospital, Key West, Florida and I didn't know a soul but made friends with Bernie's son Bruce. We have been friends ever since. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Bernie and his wife Mary Ann on one of the trips Bruce and I took up to Ocala. They always made me feel welcome and special. I never forgot that. When my Mom and Dad came down to the Keys to visit me they stopped in and met Bernie and Mary Ann along the way. And they never forgot that either. Bernie and our family have since corresponded over each of all those years. One of the things we always discussed were the Florida and Wisconsin prospects for bowl games over the upcoming holidays. Go Gators! Go Badgers! Go Bernie! He was a very special man and will be missed by all of us.
