Obituary of Doris E. Whigham

WHIGHAM, DORIS E., 81 Ocala - Doris Whigham went to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 20, 2011. She was born in Pelham, Georgia, on March 3, 1930 to Agbert & Effie Elrod. Doris married Roy H. Whigham, Sr., in 1950. The family then settled in Ocala in 1962. Preceded in death by her husband, Roy H. Whigham, Sr., she is survived by many loved ones. Left to cherish her memory are (2) sisters, Sally Wise and Carmen Blankenship, (1) brother, Walter Joiner and her Aunt, Ana Finch. Her beloved children include three daughters: Beverly (Danny) Driggers, Tamara (Charles) Bradshaw, Carol (David) Ehrlich and one son, Roy H. Whigham, Jr. Her loving family also included (8) grandchildren and (8) great grandchildren. Doris' most important job was being a good wife and Mother. She was an excellent homemaker and cook. She prided herself on her Church, home and family. She attended Druid Hills United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School while her children were growing up. Doris was an avid seamstress while working at Knoblock Draperies and Brigadier Industries. She loved ballroom dancing, fishing and the beach. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home at 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd. The family will meet with friends at Hiers-Baxley on Wed., December 28, 2011, from 3pm - 5pm. The service will immediately follow. Mrs. Whigham will be entombed at the Chapel of Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at a later date. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to Alzheimer's & Dementia Alliance of Florida and Hospice of Marion County, Inc. in memory of their Mother. The family sends much love and appreciation to the many special friends at Hospice of Marion County and Superior Residences at Cala Hills, where Doris resided until her departure.
