Obituary of Donald Christensen

Donald R. "Don" Christensen, age 83, of Ocala, FL passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Sylvia's Hospice House also in Ocala. He was born on January 13, 1928 in Oshkosh, WI. Don left Oshkosh to join the US Army where he served during WWII. After his military service Don attended Broadcasting School in Milwaukee. He worked as a radio broadcaster at WFHR in Wisconsin Rapids, WI for many years. Don was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He loved Big Band music and was an avid sports fan. Don moved to Florida in 1983. He is a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Ocala, FL where he served faithfully in the Chapel of Perpetual Adoration for 16 years. He volunteered his time at Brother's Keeper Soup Kitchen for 21 years. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Beatrice Christensen of Ocala, FL; daughter Ann (Mike) Schlice of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; son Mike (Jude) Christensen of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; son Doug (Lisa) Christensen of Berlin, WI; sister Marlene (Bill) Daskam of Kiel, WI; and 2 grandchildren Alissa and Nick Schlice. Don loved God, his family, the church and serving the less fortunate.
