Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Montgomery

Mary Elizabeth Montgomery Born June 11, 1937 in Stanaford, WV; died January 6, 2012 in Ocala, FL. She was a graduate from Vermilion High School in 1956. She then joined the US Air Force and proudly served our country with three years of service. She worked for the City of Vermilion as Deputy Bailiff, the Sparkle Market, and owned and operated Accurate Catering for 14 years. Mary was a life member of AMVETS Post 17 of Sandusky, OH; member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 284, Belleview, FL. Mary was 4th District President of the Dept of FL American Legion Auxiliary, receiving the Outstanding District President, two years in a row. Additionally she was National Administrative Director of the Sad Sacks (fun & honor group of AMVETS) supporting nurses' scholarships. Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Gerald, Sr. of Ocala, FL; daughters, Malinda Lee Sommers of Collins, OH, and Cherri Lynn Cordes of Lorain, OH; sons, Troy Allen Montgomery of La Grange, KY, and Gerald Lee Montgomery, Jr. of Lorain, OH; eight grandchildren; brothers, Robert B. Hunter, Jr. of Greenwood, MS, and John Dana Hunter of Village of Sheffield, OH. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert B. Hunter, Sr., and mother, Evelyn Greene-Thomas; sisters, Evelyn Greene Losh, and Rena E. Kennedy; granddaughter, Crystal. Celebration of life to be held Monday, January 16, 2012 6:00 PM at HIERS-BAXLEY FUNERAL SERVICES, Belleview, 352-245-2424. Committal service will be Tuesday, January 17, 2012 11:00 AM at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
