Obituary of Alphonse A. Manganelli

Alphonse Manganelli, 73, beloved "Sonny" of the late Anthony and Dora Manganelli passed away at The Villages Cornerstone Hospice surrounded by his family on January 10, 2012. Al was born in Brooklyn, NY. He was a graduate of Farmingdale College and Hofstra University, Long Island, NY, with a BS in Physics. He worked as a fiber-optics engineer for the NY Telephone Company for 32 years at various locations around NYC. Al will be greatly missed by his wife Marge, his sister Vera Capes (Bill), his niece Janet Erario (Raymond), his nephews James and Robert (Sylvia) Hoke, his grandniece Madison Erario, grandnephews Raymond Erario, Mathias and Andreas Hoke, his stepdaughter Kimberly Koren, and his sister-in-law Mary Ellen Fey. Al was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus in Rocky Point, NY. He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and felt blessed to be able to help those in need. He had a kind and generous heart. Al's family and friends were delighted by his wit, charm, and joy of life. He enjoyed golfing and walking throughout The Villages, but dancing, cooking, and traveling with his wife were his passions. Cremation was arranged by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Summerfield on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at St. Charles Cemetery, Long Island, NY. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude's Hospital for Children.
