Obituary of Willis E. Meyer

MEYER, WILLIS E. Willis Eugene Meyer, 78, passed away at Munroe Regional Medical Center on January 10, 2012. He was born in Deshler, Ohio and moved to Summerfield from Toledo, OH in 1997. Willis played basketball in high school and for Defiance College. He was employed as yard supervisor for General Motors until retirement. He went on from there to become plant manager for Hickman, Williams and Company before retiring again in 1997. Willis was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict and a member of Hope Lutheran Church and American Legion Post #347. He enjoyed playing cards, beach trips, golf, horses, and Ohio State. Mr. Meyer is survived by his daughters, Stacie L. Wells, Belleview, FL; Sheree M. Shafer, Perrysburg, OH; son, John R. Meyer, Summerfield, FL; brother, Marvin Meyer, Fremont, OH; and seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Karen. A memorial service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2012. Arrangements by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services - The Villages.
