Obituary of Richard J. Donovan

Richard Donovan THE VILLAGES - Richard John Donovan, 82, died Thursday, January 12, 2012. He was born in Olean, N.Y. He moved to The Villages in February 1998. He previously lived in Fredonia, N.Y. After serving in the US Navy during the Korean War he earned a degree in electronics engineering at Alfred State College. Later he was a transformer salesman for Acme Electric, covering Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Subsequently he was a popular bartender in Olean & Fredonia. Upon moving to the Villages he worked at the Glenbrook gate as a gate attendant until December 2011. He was also a member of the VFW. Survivors include his wife Noreen; sons, Carey, David, and Patrick; daughter Ann; sister, Frances; six grandsons and a granddaughter. A memorial service will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services - The Villages on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. Inurnment will be in Florida National Cemetery.
