Obituary of William Henry Edward Buechner
William Henry Edward Buechner of Ocoee, FL was received into his heavenly Father’s arms on Friday, July 7, 2023, at the age of 96. Beloved son of the late Alvin F. Buechner and Helen (nee Schneider); cherished brother of the late Alvin W. (Elinor) Buechner; loving husband of the late Cecille Anne Mack and the late Marie Buechner (nee Brady); dear father of Jeanne (Andy) Gerwitz, Laura Buechner and William Edward (Debby) Buechner; and stepfather to Nancy (Lloyd) Ballard and Maureen Brady. He will be missed as a beloved cousin, uncle, friend, neighbor and Opa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his special loving caregiver Nancy Buissereth. He was preceded in death by 1 great-grandchild, Andrew A. Gerwitz, IV.
William (Bill) was a WWII Army veteran and played the trumpet in the Army band. After coming home from the war, he graduated from Washington University. St. Louis. He worked 40 years as proprietor of U City Hardware in University City, MO. He served as President of the Rotary Club and as a member of the Chamber of Commerce. A true animal lover, Bill was passionate about rescuing greyhounds— having 3 in his retired life. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and dancing.
