Obituary of Joseph Dalton Sheffield

After a difficult and bitter month-long battle, our beloved Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, and friend to many has left this life here earth-side and is now pain free. Joseph Dalton Sheffield, 69, passed while surrounded by those who loved him dearly and will forever be greatly missed.

Dalton is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Sheffield, mother, Rose Sheffield, brother, “Buck” Thomas Sheffield Jr, and sister, Virginia Montalva. He leaves behind 3 children, Alicia Burleson, Shane Sheffield, and Martina Sheffield. In addition to his children, his grandchildren are William Hickson (Whitney), Breanna Hickson (Saxon), Kaitlyn Hickson (Kaleb), Shane Sheffield Jr. and Kaylee Sheffield. His pride and joy were his 6 great-grandchildren Jeremiah, Camilla, Alizjah, Milana, Kyngzlee and Szymphony. His siblings that are left behind are Ora-Linda (Jerry) Tidwell, Ronnie (Cathy) Sheffield, Donna (John) Frost, Eddie (Peggy) Sheffield and Diane (Joey) Hartman along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rest assured that if he’s not somewhere building something or cutting down limbs and making a fire in the backyard, he’s most likely casting a line into the water somewhere looking for that next big catch. He might even be showing some old friends how to re-line a reel as we speak. Of course, there’s always a chance that you could find him just sitting and enjoying a good cup of coffee or cooling off with a big glass of sweet tea. He was a lover of his family, his life and most of all, his God.

There will be a viewing held on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 3:00-5:00 pm at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home. 910 E Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL 34470.

Immediately following, there will be a Celebration of Life and dinner at Soul’s Harbor Pentecostal Church in Belleview.
