Obituary of Zelma Roberson Underwood

Our precious mother Zelma Roberson Underwood went home to her Savior July 1, 2023,surrounded by her loved ones. Zelma was a native of Ocala Florida for over 94 years, born May 24, 1929.  

Zelma and her husband Cecil were blessed with four daughters Tara Hampton (Bob), Lori Jones (David), and Renee Thomason (Rodney), Janice Barnett (Bobbie) ; 5 grandchildren Katie (Eric), Chris, Meghan, Allison, and Hannah (Troy) along with three great- grandchildren, Johnathan, Rachel, and Cayden. 

Zelma will be greeted in Heaven by her husband Cecil, parents Henry and Janie Roberson, sister Ruby Dean (John), and brother Dewey Roberson (Marilyn). Zelma will also be joining her twin sister Thelma Roberson Limpus. Sisters by birth and close friends for life.

Thelma passed away May 7, 2020, leaving behind her three boys Frank (Sharon), David, Brit (Tricia) and her grandchildren, Ryan, Rachel, Reed, David Lee, and Hailey, who are joining us today celebrating the twin’s homecoming in heaven.

Zelma retired from the banking business then worked with the police department as a crossing guard well into her 80’s, Thelma was a homemaker, mother, and children’s caregiver with KinderCare in  Knoxville, Tenn. For 58 years she was also a member of First Christian Church, Knoxville raising her family there and serving on the Board and in numerous other capacities. 

They both will be greatly missed!

Funeral services will be held July 7, 2023, at The First Baptist Church of Ocala, Florida. Visitation will begin at 10am followed by the funeral service at 11.
