Obituary of Leonard Eldridge Griggs

Leonard Eldridge “Buck” Griggs, 84, of Ocala passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at The Ted and Diane Brandley House in Summerfield. Buck was a lifetime resident of Ocala.  He served in the United States Navy, after being honorably discharged from the Navy, he began working for the Coca Cola Bottling Company as a driver and retired as the office manager after 31 years.  Buck was a member of Oak Griner Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, he and his wife ran the concession stand during the baseball games for years.  He enjoyed wood working, many of his works can be seen in the church, from mangers, to crosses, to several pieces of furniture.  Survivors include his children, Leonard (Pamela) Griggs, Jr. of Silver Springs, FL, Pamela (Jim) J Cunningham of Brandon, FL; 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Hayden, Jessie Pace, Katlynn and James Cunningham; and 5 great grandchildren, Ariana, Jacob, Foster, Ethan and Charlee, and his sister Irene Caruthers.  Buck is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Ellen C Griggs, his brother Tommy Griggs and granddaughter Tasha Hayden.  A funeral service will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Oak Griner Baptist Church.  A visitation will be held from 6-8pm the evening before at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Ocala.
