I was searching for Paul on the internet today. I don’t know if it is the same Paul I knew in 1982-83. I was in the Air Force on Guam those years. There were several of us who hung out all the time. He had a motorcycle back then, that I was a constant passenger. We had bought a Datsun B210 together for 100$. I replaced the starter motor and we “acquired” a license plate off of another car and successfully registered it. We spent a lot of time exploring the island and got our scuba certifications and did a bunch of diving. We both worked in Supply, but in different departments. We put on several dinners for our dorm. We acquired a very large turkey for thanksgiving and roasted it all day and it turned out excellent. We had theme nights like “playing croquet in the rain with umbrellas” and did silly things like drinking bones farm wine out of paper bags in beach chairs as people headed to the office in the morning (we worked night shift).
He was my best friend for about a year and a half. Of the group of friends we shared, he was the last to leave the island before me. I lost track of him and tried to find him several times over the years, until I came across this obituary today. Paul was a great guy, full of fun and adventure. I missed him over the years and am sad to find out he is gone.

What a loss for all of us. Though Paul had only been at WVLG for a short time, he made an immediate impact and was so very well-liked. He was a wonderful talent and a fine man with a great sense of humor. I truly looked forward to seeing him at the Lake Sumter Studios. My deepest condolences to Cheryl and the family. Paul may be gone but he will not be forgotten.

In a short time Paul had become a good friend to many of us at WVLG in The Villages. I had the chance to spend many hours around him … we hit it off immediately. I was so much looking forward to our growing friendship! Our deepest condolences to his wife Cheryl and family and friends. Jerry & Annie O’Neill
