Fran,
My heartfelt condolences at this sad time.
I so vividly recall my early days at the Miami FD. The group who "drew the short straw" in Miami had to back us up at the Marathon RO, but those guys never complained. I can't tell you how many times it ended up being Group 3, with Lynn taking the lead.....he never once talked down to us new guys, but then us new guys had incredible respect for the senior guys working in Miami, and Lynn was right up there at the top. Gone but never forgotten......….and as others have said, you were right there in the thick of things as well, so you made a dynamite pair! Ah the old days...……..they are my best memories.........
God Bless
Joe Kilmer

I was a new agent to The DEA Miami Division in 1988. I’ve watched various announcements over the years of retired agents passing away, agents I knew, but I never honestly felt a connection to most of them. I do remember Lynn though, the southern gentlemen. I really can’t say why he made an impact on me, just that he did and I felt compelled to express my empathy for his passing. Please accept my deepest condolences and please know that Lynn did make a difference.
God Bless

Lynn was a wonderful man, husband and father. I only met him in person a few times over the years, but since I have known is wife Fran since I was 11, I have known him through her loving eyes.
He served his country with honor in war and in the DEA in peace and he will be missed.
He leaves behind a beautiful family with countless fond memories.
His last years were difficult for him and his family and now he is at peace.

For most of us character comes in triplicate: that which we exhibit, that which we have, and that which we think we have.
For Lynn there were no ambiguities. The entire man was a window to the inner. With Lynn there was no pretense, no guise, no carefully manufactured veneer. Soft-spoken and gracious, with a deep appreciation for the values of cooperation.
Lynn's determination and courage and his fairness and generosity symbolized his decency and rightness. These qualities sustained Lynn on the battlefields of Vietnam and the streets of Miami.
Lynn had a unique ability to reconcile differences without incurring anger.
In our Miami Group Three, we all pushed the envelope to the edge of extreme danger. Lynn answered the call of high adventure and peerless daring, of necessity, Lynn was a "good man with a gun."
Lynn knew that life is measured in episodes not years. He noted and appreciated life's important moments and lived a truly rich life.
Lynn was my friend. He filled all our lives with beauty, joy and grace.Lynn made the world we live in a better and happier place.
Lynn, go in peace. We will carry the guidon from here.

Dear Wheeler family,
I am very sorry for your loss. A scripture that encouraged me very much when I have lost loved ones in death is John 5:28,29. It says "Do not be amazed at this for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out."

Jim and I lived next door to Lynn and Fran in Miami for over 20 years and are part of their 94th Terrace family. They were the best neighbors we have ever known. We had countless laughs and BBQ's. Lynn taught me how to make his famous BBQ ribs! Even though we have lived in South Carolina for the last several years, we have kept in touch. We were crushed when we heard from Fran the initial diagnosis and medical issues Lynn was enduring. Fran's love for Lynn kept her going as Lynn's caretaker and no doubt that anyone could have done a better job. Our love, prayers and sympathy go out to Fran, Chris, Gloria and the girls.
Unfortunately, due to some recent medical issues Jim has, we are unable to attend the services. Please know that Friday we will be with you mentally going through the day.
Love....Linda and Jim
