Obituary of Aurelia Mercedes Silvera
Aurelia “Lia” Mercedes Silvera, 81, of Ocala passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Hospice of Marion County surrounded by her close friends and family. Lia Silvera was born in Havana, Cuba in 1937 and immigrated to the United States in 1960, subsequently becoming a U.S. citizen. She was educated to be a teacher in Cuba, however her professional career in the United States began as a bank teller and later an Interior Decorator and business owner. She had a passion for children and dedicated herself to countless hours of community service through various church, social and community groups. Lia was a faithful Christian and devoted to her church. Survivors include her son Manuel Yanes, son Evelio (Lorri) Silvera, step-son Osvaldo (Annette) Silvera, grandson Giancarlo Martinez, step-grandson Vaughn Silvera, step-granddaughter Luna Silvera. She was preceded in death by her husband Osvaldo Silvera. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL 34470.
