Sylvia and family I am sorry to hear Dick passed away. I just found out when I heard about your moms passing. They were both two great people. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

I remember Dick La Farr as being a most kind, cooperative, non-overreaching individual who was faster than anyone else in our class or on the football team. We had a football play that Coach Tibbets taught us which was essentially a double reverse. We would hold off using it ‘till late in a game when we needed a touchdown and could be reasonably certain that this play would work just one time in a game. After the one time, the other team would be wise to it and could block the double reversed runner who was always Dick La Farr. Playing my position of right end, my assignment was to block the opposing end towards the middle of the field while the play was forming in the backfield. The quarterback (Mike Gibney) would hand off to the right half back (Steve Rich as I recall), who would then start an end around run to the left while the left halfback Dick La Farr, would delay and move to the left like he was a blocker or pass receiver on that side of the field. Then he would with lightning speed reverse his direction and come by Rich who would hand off to him. Typically, the opposing team’s back field would have all headed to the left leaving the right side wide open for Dick to come to that side of the field, make the corner and sprint all the way, untouched to the goal line. I remember many times looking back over my shoulder while blocking my man towards the middle and seeing Dick running low in his typical manner and making the corner. For that, you will always be in my memory Dick La Farr. “May the force be with you.”. God’s speed!

Please accept my heartfelt condolences to your family. 1 Corinthians 15:25, 26 says "For he [Jesus] must rule as king until God has put all enemies under his feet. And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing". At Revelation 21:4 it says regarding Jehovah, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Finally, take courage in the hope of the resurrection promised at Acts 24:15 "And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous."

To the family and friends of Richard. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to all of you for your loss. The death of a loved one is very difficult to accept and even harder to understand. However Jehovah the God of all comfort promises in Revelations 21:3,4 that soon death will be no more, neither mourning nor outcry or pain, the former things have passed away. May these words provide you with a measure of comfort now and in the days ahead. p64Ty
